Planning.

On Wednesday we started to discuss costumes and we got a definite idea of what we wanted to do. We have also decided on the story board. I have put together some pictures of my own costume ideas as I only had access to my wardrobe. The task seemed very daunting to begin with, as music videos have fewer conventions to be held to as a music video can be as out there and abstract or narrative as you want it to be.

Myself, Zoe and Mel plan to get a few bits filmed on Saturday in hope that we can edit what we have in the Wednesday lesson. We plan to do what we can without Connor.

Our Initial Music Video Ideas.

For our music project, we chose to do the song Broccoli by McFly. The song is upbeat with a staccato beat. The group class themselves as 'nu-pop' with a sixties twist. The song is a Pop song but not generally classed as mainstream. Our ideas for the song gravitate around the songs title 'Broccoli' we intend to use humour in our video, and the idea of a unrequited romance. There is no video to the song as of yet.

We decided on the story line of a boy asking a girl whose more popular than him on a date and she accepts (albeit as a joke or dare) and then cancels, leaving him humiliated.

We have decided on our first location, which was to be a kitchen (my kitchen) where we will film the first scene of the man cooking for his date. Here are some preliminary Location Recce's.

The location of a kitchen will be where the video starts as we tried to stick to the lyrical story as much as possible. The lyrics begin 'everything was going just the way I planned the broccoli was done.' therefore we felt that the video should start with a clip of the boy cooking and we decided that it would be contextual to have him simply cooking broccoli which we shall hint at being the only thing he can cook (we plan to have a plate full of broccoli and nothing else).
